The first historical map of the the Villa Adriana was published in 1906, by the Università di Roma; it has remained, until recently, the only complte map of the Villa's architectural and archaological structure. Following long term excavations and the research studies that stemmed from them, the University of Rome under the auspices of the Italian Ministry for Culture has finally proceeded to publish the new map of this wonderful archaological site, one that retraces all findings of the last 100 years, resulting in this lavishly illustrated and sumptuosly produced volume, that further enlightens on the fascinating and complex nature of Hadrian's Villa.
The book contains all the ancient maps as well as the new one drawn by the Architects and Engineers of the University of Rome, as well as renderings of the new astounding marble floors uncovered in recent years, making this publication an essential tool for all-scholars, architects, arcaologists, simple Hadrians lovers-who wish to acquire an updated knowledge and a through understanding of this unique site.
