The paper analyzes the iconographic and stylistic elements of Laconian and Ionian origin characterizing various groups of ivory, bone and amber carvings discovered in Picenum and southern Italy and their relationship with productions from Sparta. These materials, commissioned locally, would justify a reappraisal of the role carried out by Laconian craftsmen in the Adriatic region between the 7th and 6th century BC.
