“A place seen in a dream”. The restoration, a recent book and some annotations on the reliquary of San Galgano, known as the Frosini reliquary

Starting from the restoration after its recovery following theft and from the presentation of a recent book, the article proposes a re-examination of the chronology and context in which the reliquary of Saint Galgano, formerly in the parish church of Frosini, came into being and, on the basis of an examination of its unique enamelled iconographic cycle, explores the possibility that this precious artefact was intended for the church of San Galgano on Monte Siepi, erected on the site – and as a symbol – of the saint's conversion.
