Pier Luigi Pizzi, on the side of Art History

Giovanni Agosti
The text describes the numerous connections between Pier Luigi Pizzi, born in Milan in 1930 and still happily active, and the world of Art History. Personal relationships, particular circumstances and moments in the history of taste are addressed. To give just one example, Pizzi's theatrical productions were influential in arousing new interest in Felice Casorati and in certain aspects of 19th-century Italian painting. There is also mention of contacts with the contemporary art world, primarily with Mario Schifano. Lastly, reference is made, although this is not the subject of the article, to the many art exhibitions, especially those on ancient art, staged by Pizzi.
